Ballantyne Families Helping Neighbors in Need
Food Assistance for Families in Need
SUMMER GIVING EVENT April 13 – May 8 – Provide food support over the summer to families in need – Sponsor a Family Today!
Food Assistance for Families in Need
We provide food assistance to families who attend or work in one of the 11 Ballantyne area public schools through seasonal giving events and a food pantry. Our mission is to bring people together – to inspire generosity, build lasting connections, and empower the community to care for one another with dignity, compassion, and love.
Through the unbelievable support of our community, we have provided the following food support to our neighbors in need since our inception in 2020:
individuals supported
bags of groceries
in food support
supported in the South Charlotte area
“Because of your generous support, I was able to provide for my boys as a single mom.”
– CMS teacher and Ballantyne Families recipient
We recently concluded our annual Spring Break Giving Event, where we provided gift cards to 103 local families to help them purchase food and essential items over Spring Break. We know that for many students, school meals are a consistent and reliable source of nutrition. This giving event ensures families have access to food while schools are closed.
These families were identified by school counselors and social workers at the 11 Ballantyne-area public schools. Each family received a gift card ranging from $110 to $220, depending on the size of the family, from either Walmart or Harris Teeter. Families also received notes of encouragement written by members of the community and our helpful resource guide.
This giving event was made possible by a generous donation from Brighthouse Financial, whose partnership is a testimony of the spirit of giving that lives in our community. Thank you!
Our Summer Giving fundraising campaign will run from April 13 – May 3 to support 103 local families who will face food insecurity over the summer. With the proceeds, we will provide gift cards to help families purchase food and essential items while school is out.
We need to raise $75,000 to fund this event. You can participate by sponsoring a family or donating any amount now until May 8.

We are grateful that Novant Health – Ballantyne, Brighthouse Financial, and Sundt Foundation made generous donations to kick off the campaign. If you know someone who needs food support during Summer Break, please notify your school counselor or social worker before April 30.
Together, we have done amazing things and look forward to doing more to help our neighbors in need. If you would like to help others in the Ballantyne community, join our contact list so we can easily connect with you.
